PERSON 1862 – 1905
Chu Manh Trinh was a civil Mandarin that was both respected and criticized at the same time. His strengths were that he was noted for his talent in poetry, architectural design and restoration of temples , notably the stunning Huong Tich Tru Pagaoda. He wrote many beautiful poems about the Huong Son landscape and through these poems we can understand his love of nature. He died relatively young at the age of 44 in his native village of Phu Thi.
STREET
The modern-day street of Chu Mang Trinh in Saigon is characterized by the rather run down, yet picturesque shop house market that lines the center stretch of the street. The market specializes in delicacies and products from the North.

CHU MANH TRINH COCKTAIL
The Chu Manh Trinh cocktail is dedicated to the poetry of the Huong Son landscape, using Son Tinh red sticky rice wine, multiple berry liqueurs and dried berries, representing the nature of the area. Presented in a book together with a writing quill and ink pot filled with berries, drawing the poetry from nature, just as Chu May Trinh did over 100 years ago.
INGREDIENTS
25ml Son Tinh red sticky Rice, 25ml Cognac, 15ml Cassis, 15ml Creme de Fraise, Mixed dried berries.
METHOD
Warm a cognac glass over hot water in a rock glass whilst preparing other ingredients. Build directly into cognac glass all ingredients. Flame 3 x orange zests into glass. Serve in a hollowed out poetry book with a quill pen and glass ink well filled with mixed dried berries.
