Harpers Bazaar Vietnam Feature – Richie Fawcett, Cocktail Maker for ‘James Bond’

Arriving at 42 bis Ly Tu Trong, Ho Chi Minh City, I looked around the old apartment building in confusion. The first impression was the row of bicycles and motorbikes parked quite haphazardly in the stairwell and the old security guard with a slightly frowning face. Going up to the first floor, Richie Fawcett and his wife greeted me at the apartment door. It was a gallery displaying works depicting typical scenes of Vietnam.

The star of the room is the wall, which is decorated with a realistic painting of District 1; and the cut-out window that can be lit up by a light fixture inside the wall. You can even see your house if you live in the area. Behind the wall is bartender Richie Fawcett’s “laboratory.”
