Within this collection you will find 50 different cocktails which represent the 50 years of peace since the end of the Vietnam war, marking the point in recent history when the country was finally united.
The cocktails in this collection are a combination of signature original recipes and adapted classics. Many of the classics we know and love today found their origins at a similar time in the USA, to which end these references have been noted. At the front of the book are the cocktails. At the back of the book can be found the illustrated bartender technique guide as to how to make the cocktails in the front.
The street and building illustrations are made by English artist and bartender Richie Fawcett, together with all the cocktail concepts and historical research.
The recipe book menu aims to bring alive the inspirational story of Vietnam. From history through to the present-day sketches of the streets and the people that live, work and rest on them, all presented in the most recognizable form of narrative story-telling, through a book format.
Richie has spent the last 14 years in Vietnam in which time he has documented many of the streets of Saigon and Hanoi, whilst contributing to the early evolution stages of cocktail culture in the city by training and mentoring many of the best Vietnamese bartenders during the same time.
We hope you enjoy this alternative tour and take the time to make the cocktails at home as all the recipes are included.
